I believe that along with comedy, finding a way to tell your story and share it with the world can lead to invaluable healing, both for oneself and others. Working on Shadow Work was an absolute honor. When I first read Katie Mancuso’s script, I was determined to be a part of the project. As someone who is interested in tackling life’s darkest moments through storytelling -- specifically comedy -- I was so curious about this world that Katie created. I was reminded of the playfulness that can be brought to filmmaking, and that the worlds we create on screen also command a sense of responsibility.Although moments of our film lean into heavier topics, our hope is that when you watch Shadow Work you may be able to look at your own life and find ways of bringing levity to any painful parts of your own past. The only way forward is through so may we all hold hands with our own Shadows as we walk forward, continuing to heal and hopefully make each other chuckle along the way.- Brooke Trantor, Director of Shadow Work

"Shadow work" is the process of facing the parts of yourself you usually shove under the rug: your fears, insecurities, and all the stuff that makes you squirm.In the film, Annie’s actual Shadow shows up uninvited, forcing her to confront what she’s been trying to avoid.Turns out, healing doesn’t always look pretty… but it might just come with a little magic. 💫
